PEOPLE DON'T READ WEBSITES ANYMORE They just scan over it.
Think about that statement for a second. Reflect on your own browsing behaviors. How often have you Googled a product or service, clicked on one of the first results, waited for the page to load, scrolled down, scrolled back up and then gone back to the results page? We're guessing more than once.
You have got to make an impact on visitors and quick! On average, website visits from search engines last less than ten seconds-- that's right, only ten seconds. Today's consumer is savvy and to the point. If you don't engage them quickly, they are off to your competitor. They're time strapped and have no time to waste browsing web pages. Plus there are so many options to choose from that may speak to them quickly and more effectively. .
So how you you give these fast paced visitors pause? By providing an experience that is in agreement to fact and therefore worthy of belief and trust. To inspire action, your web presence has got to be original. Even if there are hundreds of others offering or doing the same as you, yours must stand out from the crowd.
They must be able to access you when and how they want, no questions. The user searching for you on a smartphone, ipad or other tablet device has got to be just as engaged as a pc user. Failure to do so could mean the loss of a potential client. Give a poor user experience on any of these platforms and you may just lose them for good. . .
Last but not least is your message-- is it relevant? Is it clear, concise and easy to consume? Too often websites cloud their core message with superfluous text that misdirects interest.
